"Anu and Bel called by name me, Hammurabi, the exalted prince, who feared God, to bring about the rule of righteousness in the land." -- Hammurabi
Code of Hammurabi: (brief examples)
i) If any one ensnare another, putting a ban upon him, but he cannot prove it, then he that ensnared him shall be put to death.
ii) If a man wishes to separate from his wife who has borne him no children, he shall give her the amount of her purchase money and the dowry which she brought from her father's house, and let her go. Further, if there was no purchase price he shall give her one mina of gold as a gift of release.
iii) If any one steal the minor son of another, he shall be put to death.
iv) If any one break a hole into a house (break in to steal), he shall be put to death before that hole and be buried.
v) If anyone is committing a robbery and is caught, then he shall be put to death.
vi) If a tavern-keeper (feminine) does not accept corn according to gross weight in payment of drink, but takes money, and the price of the drink is less than that of the corn, she shall be convicted and thrown into the water.
vii) If a man take a woman to wife, but have no intercourse with her, this woman is no wife to him.
viii) If a man's wife be surprised (in flagrante delicto) with another man, both shall be tied and thrown into the water, but the husband may pardon his wife and the king his slaves.
ix) If the "finger is pointed" at a man's wife about another man, but she is not caught sleeping with the other man, she shall jump into the river for her husband.
x) If a man's wife, who lives in his house, wishes to leave it, plunges into debt, tries to ruin her house, neglects her husband, and is judicially convicted: if her husband offer her release, she may go on her way, and he gives her nothing as a gift of release. If her husband does not wish to release her, and if he take another wife, she shall remain as servant in her husband's house.
Note Obviously sans the valuation of people based on gender and race as that is clearly a ridiculous notion devised by foolishly inadequate men of fabricated power.
Preface:
As you can see the code to life is really not very difficult, in fact one could argue it is rather simplistic. If you read the above stated Codes of Hammurabi you will see just how easily a person could navigate through life with relative success. I would like to return to the days of such simplistic values. A time where you are no more or less than your word. You lie and it is proved you shall suffer the public consequence, you cheat on your spouse and be caught you shall be tossed in the water (drowned). For every action there is a totally and completely logical reaction. Also, note the ease of carrying out these punishments, incredibly economical. One would have to surmise that crimes of both humanity and morality were fairly rare once the Code was set in.
Power of Judicial Oversight:
All of this alludes to an article that has gotten some play in the news lately where an Ohio man was supposed to be executed for his crimes and he was unable to be executed because the idiot conducting the lethal injection couldn't find a usable vein. Thus giving the guy a potential chance at a permanent reprieve for having been attempted to be executed and failed (a complete joke. Survive a hanging or gunshot, and I am all ears...but a failed OD on a junky -- not quite Russian Roulette). Now two more delinquents are getting a temporary reprieve while this is sorted out in court, they now are making the claim of "cruel and unusual punishment" due to the nature of the unusable vein incident.

Circumventing the System:
This is so completely stupid and just an even bigger waste of tax dollars. Money being spent on people who murdered innocent people (in this case the recently reprieved Mr. Reynolds, who is convicted of murdering his 67 year old female neighbor). So tax payers are now paying to give him rights? No Sir, I shall not be a part of such a ridiculous notion. It would be my recommendation that this piece of garbage be tried, as he was, and convicted, all DNA evidence be collected and without a shadow of a doubt he be found guilty of his crimes. He be taken out for the dinner of his choice and then he be given the choice of being hanged by the neck until he were dead or be bound and executed via firing range. Not only would this spare the years of incarceration that tax payers would be burdened by, but he also would be executed without mistake, a hangman cannot cost but a mere few thousand a week and if you want to be really economical you let the family have its vengeance on this asshole. Say he selects a rifle range exit that is no more than $.65 a round (figure in 3-5 shooters) we are looking at a couple bucks, then toss his dead ass into a fire pit and move on to the next piece of trash who has run afoul of the law.
Epilogue:
Lastly, in no way am I trying to mitigate due process or obstruct any man's rights. I am simply saying that years of jail time and meals paid by the tax payers he has committed a crime against, followed by state workers botching the execution and then the prick hires some eggplant attorney and snakes his way out of execution -- all with a great big handshake from the Judge -- is completely unacceptable. Crime is high, morality is at an all-time low, people show no regard for others or for themselves most of the time and the penalty for infractions are almost laughable with the existing bureaucracy. I believe an answer to this is simplification of the moving parts. Once the subjects are found guilty of their crimes against humanity whether it is a crime of violence or of passion such as infidelity or disloyalty to their union, they ought to be faced with the punishment that befits them. These three men in this article should be given their day in court (which they have had) the case should be reviewed by a Judge to assure that there have been no oversights. The three men ought then be dragged by their feet or ears (whichever is the more humiliating) to the scene of their crimes and shot dead where they stand. As for the state burial of those fellows, I submit to you buzzards got to eat, same as worms.
